Lancaster General Health Parking Lot Attendant (20 hours/week on 2nd Shift) in Lancaster, Pennsylvania

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Collects designated parking fees from vehicles exiting an attended lot. Summarizes transactions and deposit receipts and end of shift. Monitors lot and acts on or reports problems and conditions affecting operations.

HOURS:

Week 1: Sunday 2p-8p; Tuesday -Thursday 3:30p-8p.

Week 2: Monday 3:30p-8p; Friday 3:30p-8p Saturday 2p-8p.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Stamps each ticket with time out and determines appropriate fee charges.

  • Collects money, operates cash register and makes change.

  • Compiles shift summary and makes cash deposit at end of shift.

  • Actively observes lot--control conditions--and reports or acts upon abnormal conditions according to standing orders.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above:

  • Performs basic clean-up of booth and exit area.

  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

  • One (1) year of experience working directly with customers.

  • Six (6) months experience working with computers or computerized equipment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One (1) year each of parking attendant and retail experience is preferred for the position.

  • Two (2) years of interaction with a broad range of people.

COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS

The individual must be able to attend to environmental detail with the ability to separate essential from non-essential or irrelevant stimuli. The attention skills required are generally considered to be automatic--passive, but focused with an intact capacity for select perception.

NEW LEARNING AND MEMORY ‑ The following level of ability is essential for the jobholder to learn and retain material:

  • Task demands are routine and predictable. Tasks to be completed are few in number. There is little requirement for new learning, processing or carry-over of new information. Once the tasks are learned, there is little change in routine.

PROBLEM SOLVING, REASONING AND CREATIVE THINKING ‑ The following level of ability that is essential for the jobholder to think (in order to solve a problem) by combining two or more elements from past experience or imaginative thought:

  • The requirement for autonomous problem solving or creativity of thought in the position is absent or minimal. The individual must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions. Most aspects of the position, and the actions taken to resolve them, are repetitive in nature, and should ultimately become rote or automatic. There is little variability in task demands, or task demands are accomplished under continuous direction from another.
